  Multi-Platform Support

What is a Component?

The essence of a component is the encapsulation of technical or business domain knowledge, which can then be reused with software applications. Modern Application development platforms such as J2SE, J2EE and .NET make components a central theme within the platform and make give preference to a Component based development approach.

Here at WebCab we take a piece of business intelligence and implement it under a number of component enabled development platforms. Giving the developer for a given piece of functionality a wide choice in terms of the development platform and deployment environment used. Moreover, we will continue to expand and integrate new component related technologies if they increase the ease of development, developer choice or functionality available from our component implementations.

Supported Component Platforms

The components models and the associative development platforms wish we support includes:

  1. Enterprise JavaBeans - the server side component model of the J2EE development platform
  2. JavaBeans - the components model of the J2SE development platform
  3. .NET Class Libraries
  4. .NET XML Web services - Web services implemented for deployment on the .NET infrastructure.
  5. Office Addin's - An Office addin extends the functionality of the Office tool
All of the above examples illustrate examples of what we refer to as components.

Choosing a Platform

Here at WebCab because we support all the major component enabled development platforms, including Java and .NET; we do not have any platform agenda. Moreover, we deliberately make the effort to support the major platforms on the client and server side because multi-platform support help us to tailor a solution which best suits your end-user demands, development team expertise and deployment environment.

By offering multi-platform support you can deploy your solution onto the platform which best suits your needs now whilst still reserving the option of switching to another deployment platform at a later date. Since departmental, corporate IT and your development teams requirements are continuously changing this option greatly mitigates the risk associated with making development platform choices.
